About Wild Dog

With stunning views of the Strzelecki Ranges combined with picturesque Vineyard and Olive plantation scenery from the Cellar Door, Wild Dog Winery makes for the perfect place to relax and enjoy our range of Award Winning cool climate wines.

The winery and vineyard was established in 1982 with the name “Wild Dog” coming from the nearby township of Warragul that is derived from the Aboriginal word “Warrigal” meaning Dingo or Wild Dog.

Wild Dog label wines are only made from grapes grown at the Wild Dog vineyard which produces approx 60 tonnes annually from 11 different wine varieties.

A number of improvements have been made to the property since the Surman family purchased the winery in Early 2005. Extensive vineyard maintenance, development and re-planting, along with winery renovation and expanding of workspace and storage has taken place.

The state of the art cellar door is open 7 days a week as part of the restaurant.
Wild Dog also features a mature olive plantation of 600 trees that each year are harvested to make extra virgin olive oil and pickled olives. Both of which are available in limited supply from the Wild Dog Cellar Door.
